With the new year coming up, many of us are thinking about New Year’s Resolutions. It’s easy to make elaborate goals–which then, of course, get forgotten about by March. But if one of your resolutions is to have a better smile in 2018, we are here to help you! First, divide your goal into small, achievable pieces. Here are some simple things you can do this year:

Storage Resolutions: Make sure to store your toothbrush in an open, well-ventilated area, away from other toothbrushes. If you must store them together due to space issues or other reasons, make sure the toothbrush heads don’t touch. Touching toothbrushes spreads germs between them, contaminating the brushes.

“Selfish” Can Be Good: NEVER share toothbrushes, with anyone! Sharing contaminates the toothbrush and can spread bacteria, food particles, and even disease from person to person. If someone else has used your toothbrush, throw it away immediately. Buy a new brush as soon as you can.

New Year, New Toothbrush: Replace your toothbrush every 3-4 months, even if they haven’t been contaminated or look “fine”. The New Year is a great time to replace the brushes of your whole family!
